Activating SiriusXM on your TV allows you to enjoy music, sports, and talk channels. Occasionally, you may encounter issues during the activation process. Check Your Radio ID
A common reason for activation failure is an incorrect Radio ID. This unique 12-digit code, also known as an Electronic Serial Number (ESN), connects your device to your SiriusXM account. An error in this number will hinder activation.
To find the correct ID for your TV’s receiver, turn on your television and access the SiriusXM application or channel list. Tune to Channel 0, where your Radio ID will be displayed. Write this number down carefully. Then, log in to your account on the SiriusXM website and compare this ID with the one associated with your subscription. If they do not match, you will need to update your account with the correct Radio ID.
Verify Your Receiver’s Signal
Your TV’s receiver requires a strong, uninterrupted signal to receive the activation command from SiriusXM. A weak or disrupted signal can impede activation.
If you are using a satellite receiver, ensure that the antenna has a clear view of the southern sky, as trees and buildings can obstruct the signal. Adverse weather conditions, such as heavy rain or snow, may also temporarily disrupt the signal. For streaming services, check your TV’s internet connection. A slow or unstable Wi-Fi connection can prevent proper activation. Verify that your internet is functioning on other devices before attempting to activate again.
Send a Refresh Signal
If your Radio ID is correct and your signal is strong, your receiver may require a new activation signal. This process, known as a refresh, prompts the SiriusXM system to resend authorization to your device.
To initiate a refresh, keep your TV powered on and tuned to a SiriusXM channel. Visit the official SiriusXM refresh webpage online, where you will need to enter your Radio ID. Follow the on-screen instructions to send the signal. Please do not turn off your TV for at least 15 minutes, as the refresh signal may take some time to arrive and activate your service.
Review Your Subscription Status
Activation may also fail due to issues with your subscription plan. Your account must be active, and the plan you purchased should include TV service.
Log in to the SiriusXM online account center to manage your subscription. Ensure that your payment is up to date and that the plan is active. Check the “My Radios” or “My Devices” section to confirm that your TV’s Radio ID is correctly linked to your subscription package. If the radio is not associated with your account, you will need to add it before the service can function.
